Instant Semiya Dosa Recipe | Vermicelli Cheela Recipe

 

We have already tried our hands on vermicelli Upma, kheer, halwa, and many other things. Today we are going to prepare vermicelli Cheela, which you can prepare for breakfast or whenever you want. Let’s get started.

Ingredients for Vermicelli Cheela:

Roasted Vermicelli - 1/2 Cup (50 grams)
Semolina - 1/2 Cup (100 grams)
Hot Water - 1/2 Cup
Curd - 1/2 Cup
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Ginger - 1 tsp, grated
Green Chilli - 2, finely chopped
Curry Leaves - 10-12
Green Coriander - 1 tbsp, chopped
Eno Fruit Salt - 1/2 tsp

Instant Semiya Dosa Recipe:

Take ½ cup of roasted vermicelli (Semiya) and soak them in ½ cup of hot water. Cover the vermicelli and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Suggestion: If you don’t have roasted vermicelli, then you can dry roast the unroasted vermicelli until pinkish.

Now, take ½ cup of semolina (sooji) in a bowl. Add ½ cup of curd, 1 tsp of grated ginger, 2-finely chopped green chilies, ½ tsp of salt (or as per your taste), 10-12 curry leaves, and 1 tbsp of finely chopped green coriander to the sooji. Mix the contents well.

Add ¼ cup of water to the Sooji concoction. Cover the concoction and leave it for 10 minutes.

[After 10 minutes]

The Sooji has puffed up well, and vermicelli has become soft. Add the vermicelli to the sooji mixture (drain out the water), and mix well. If the batter appears thick, then pour some more water. The batter consistency should not be too thick or runny.

Now, add ½ tsp of Eno fruit salt to the batter and mix well. The batter for preparing Cheela is ready now.

Alternative: You can add ¼ tsp of baking soda instead of Eno fruit salt.

Heat a non-stick pan and add a little oil to it. Keep flame low-medium. Pour enough batter in the pan and spread it evenly. Drizzle a few drops of the oil around the Cheela circumference and at the top. Cover the pan with a lid and cook the Cheela for 3 minutes.

Flip the Cheela once the base turns brown. Cover the pan again and cook the other side similarly until brown.

After 2 minutes, remove the lid and check the Cheela. Transfer the Cheela to the serving plate once it turns brown on the other side too.

Semiya Cheela with Veggies:

Heat the pan and add a little oil to it. When the oil is hot, pour the Cheela batter in the pan and spread it evenly. Add chopped capsicum, tomato, or onion at the top of the Cheela.

Cover the pan and cook the Cheela for 2-3 minutes. Flip the Cheela and cover-cook until golden brown (or for 2-3 minutes). Similarly, prepare all the Cheela from the remaining batter.

Vermicelli Cheela / Semiya Dosa is ready to be served. These Cheelas are very spongy and delicious. They have a special taste, which can cham anyone.

So, prepare vermicelli Cheela and enjoy it with chutney or ketchup.
