Semolina Veg Rolls Recipe | Veg Suji Rolls Recipe
The first meal of the day (i.e., breakfast) needs to be healthy and preferably less oily. Today’s recipe is a veg suji roll recipe, which requires only 1 tsp oil. The preparation is very easy and tastes fabulous.
Without further ado, let’s begin the preparation of semolina veg rolls.
Ingredients required for semolina veg rolls recipe:
Semolina - 1 cup (150 grams)
Curd- ½ cup
Salt- ½ tsp
Baking Powder - ⅛ tsp
Capsicum - ½ cup, chopped
Cauliflower - ½ cup, chopped
Carrot - ¼ cup, chopped
Ginger Paste - ½ tsp
Green Chilli - 1 chopped
Black pepper - ¼ tsp
Salt - ¼ tsp
Green Coriander - 1-2 tbsp
Oil - 2 tsp
Black Mustard - ¼ tsp
White sesame - ½ tsp
Curry Patta - 10-12
Semolina veg rolls recipe:
For making semolina veg roll, take 1 cup fine semolina. Add ½ cup Curd, ½ tsp salt, ⅛ tsp of baking soda, and mix the content well. Knead and make a soft dough.
Suggestion: If you don't have fine semolina, you can grind the normal suji in a grinder.
Knead the dough by applying a little oil on your hand. Do not use water for kneading the dough. Cover and leave the dough for 10 minutes.
[After 10 minutes]
Apply a little oil on your hand and knead the dough again. Once done, divide the dough into 2 pieces. Give the 2 piece sphere shape with your hands.
Prepare Stuffing for the rolls:
Take ½ cup of finely chopped capsicum, ½ cup of grated cauliflower, ¼ cup of grated carrot in a bowl. You can use any vegetables for stuffing as per your preference.
Then, add ½ tsp of ginger paste, 1 finely chopped green chilli, ¼ tsp of crushed black pepper, ¼ tsp of salt, 1 to 2 tbsp of green coriander leaves, and mix everything properly. Your stuffing is ready.
Take 1 sphere of dough and roll it with a rolling pin. Before rolling, apply oil on the rolling board and pin to avoid sticking of dough. Roll and make a thin and rectangular sheet from the dough.
Next, apply 1 tsp of pizza sauce on the dough sheet. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the sheets.
Alternative: You can use green coriander chutney instead of pizza sauce.
Now, spread the vegetable filling over the dough sheet. Roll and press-close the corners of the sheet. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining dough. Once completed, you can steam them.
[For steaming the rolls]
First, take a metal sieve and grease it with oil. Put the rolls on the sieve. Take a big bowl where the sieve can fit. Add 2 cups of water in the bowl and let it boil.
Once the water starts boiling and steam starts to form well, place the sieve in the bowl. Cover the bowl with a lid to hold the steam in. Keep the flame medium and steam the rolls for 15 mins.
[After 15 minutes]
Your rolls will look puffed and spongy. Turn off the flame. Take them out and leave them to cool down. Once slightly cooled, you can cut the rolls into pieces. Your suji veg roll is ready.
You can add Tadka to the prepared rolls. Tadka will enhance the taste of the rolls. Heat a pan and add 2 tsp of oil. When the oil is hot, add ¼ tsp of mustard seeds, ½ tsp of sesame, 8-10 curry leaves, and roast the spices. Keep the flame medium.
Next, add the Tadka to the prepared rolls. You can skip or add any ingredients to the Tadka.
