Ingredients for Moong Dal Pakoras
- Green Lentils – 200 gm
- Asafetida – 1 to 2 pinch
- Green chili – 3 to 4 (cut into small pieces)
- Ginger – 1 inch long piece (grated)
- Coriander – half small bowl (cut)
- Red chili - ¼ small spoon
- Coriander seed powder – 1 small spoon
- Salt - ¾ small spoon (or as per taste)
- Oil – to fry
How to make Green Lentils Pakora
Wash and soak the lentils in water for 4 to 5 hours. If the lentils have the skin on then rub them with your hands to separate the skin. Immerse the lentils in water and the separated skin will float to the top. Pour out this skin along with water. Grind the lentils.
If the lentils are without skin then pour out the water and grind the lentils. Don't grind the lentils too fine (Pakoras made of coarsely ground lentils are tastier).
Take out the grinded lentils in a big utensil and mix spices in the utensil. The mixture for pakoras, is now ready.
Put oil in a frying pan and heat it. Take out small lumps from the mixture and put them in the frying pan. You can put 8 to 10 lumps in the frying pan at a time. After they turn brown, take them out in a plate. Repeat this process for the remaining mixture. Your Green Lentils Pakora are now ready to serve and eat along with coriander chutney.
Note: If you like potatoes then peel a potato and cut it into 1 to 2 inch pieces. Mix it in the lentils and fry as mentioned above.
