Ingredients for Amla Chatpati Candy
- Gooseberry - 500 grams (12 or 14)
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Black salt - 2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp (optional)
- Asafoetida - 2 to 3 pinch (optional)
How to make Amla Chatpati Candy
Wash the gooseberries really well, dry the water or clean with a cloth.
Now cut the gooseberries in thin slices, remove the seeds.
Place these chunks in a container and add salt, black salt, black pepper, turmeric powder and asafoetida as well. Mix all ingredients really well and keep aside the container for 2 to 3 days as it is.
Stir the amlas once in a day, regularly, with a dry spoon. Some amount of water is released by the amlas.
Take out the amla chunks from the container and place them over a plastic tray or a polythene sheet under the sunlight to dry.
The water released from the gooseberries can be used for making sabzi or soups.
If the sun is shining bright then these chunks dry within 2 days, else they take 3 to 4 days.
Tarty amla candy is ready, Store it in any air tight container and relish eating for up to a month.
