Radish Chutney Recipe

Radish Chutney can be prepared in various ways. Radish/Mullangi Chutney prepared in South India has its own distinct aroma and flavour, it is eaten with Idli, Dosa or rice.
- Ingredients for Mullangi (Radish) Chutney
- Radish - 2 (grate)
- Red chilly - 2
- Whole coriander(dhaniya) - 2 tsp
- Rie - 2 tsp
- Jeera(cumin seeds) - 1 tsp
- Methi(fenugreek) seeds - 1/4 tsp
- Curry leaves - 18 to 20 leaves
- Tamarind paste - 2 tsp
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Salt - add to taste
- How to make Mullangi (Radish) Chutney
Put 1 tsp oil in a frying pan(kadhai) and heat. Put whole coriander, 1 tsp Rie, Jeera, Methi and curry leaves in hot oil to fry till they turn light brown. Take the spices out in a bowl.
Now pour 1 tsp oil in the pan, put grated radish in it and fry for 5 minutes till radish is cooked.
Put the fried spices and red chillies in a mixer and make a fine powder without adding any water. Add tamarind paste and salt to these spices, pour water accordingly and make a fine paste.
Pour the remaining oil in the pan. put Rie after oil is heated. After Rie is roasted put the chutney paste and cook till oil starts to float over the chutney.
South Indian style Radish Chutney is ready. Take out chutney in a bowl then serve with Idli, Dosa or rice and eat...!!
