How to Make Soybean Milk

Protein- rich soy milk is a great substitute for cow's milk. Some people cannot use normal milk or eat any milk product due to some medical problems. Kid who finds difficulty with lactose are left with just one option of soy milk.

Ingredients for Soybean Milk
- Soybean - 125 gms. (more than 1/2 cup)
- Water
Method - How to Make Soybean Milk
Wash the soybean seeds and soak them for 8-12 hours overnight in water.
Strain the water from the soybean, put them in a glass bowl and microwave it for 2 minutes. The second method is to soak them in hot boiling water for 5 minutes covered. With this method the fragrance of soybean will reduce and it will be easier to peel them.
Rub the bean between your palms to peel them. Now put them into the water, you will see that the peeled skin will start to float over the water. Take them out with hand.
You can make milk without peeling the soybean. But milk made from peeled soybean tastes good and gives good pulp.
Put the soybean in a mixer and make a paste by adding little water into it. Pour 1 ltr. water into the mixture and run the mixer again.
Boil the milk and take out the foam with a spoon that is appearing over the milk. stir the milk at short intervals while boiling it. Once the milk starts to boils, let it boil for another 5-10 minutes. Turn off the flame.
Now sieve the boiled milk with a clean cloth. A hard soybean pulp will be left behind on the cloth after straining the milk from it. Keep this pulp in a separate bowl.
Soybean milk is ready. Let is cool down. You can drink soybean milk and can be consumed for over 3 days if stored in the refrigerator.
How to Use Soybean Milk
You can consume soymilk like any other normal cow's milk. Make fruit shakes from it or use it to make Tofu paneer by coagulating the milk. Tofu can be used to make various recipes at home.
You can use the pulp of soybean to make missi roti, or make cutlets from it. Mix the pulp with potato and fill it inside the bread to make cutlets.
