Quick Chole Masala Recipe in Single Pot

Many people are fond of chickpea curry, as well as there are many ways to make them.  But in all these, the same method is liked which is very easy and in which chickpeas are made instantly.  With this method today we are going to make Chole Masala in a Single Pot.  They will give a very traditional taste and it is very easy to make them.

 

Ingredients for Single Pot Chole Masala

 

Kabuli Chana - 1 cup (200 grams)

Oil - 2 tbsp

Ghee - 1 tbsp

Bay leaf - 2

Long Clove - 4

Black pepper - 10-12

Black Cardamom - 1

Star Anise - 1

Cinnamon - 1 inch

Pomegranate seeds powder - 1 tsp

Coriander Powder - 2 tsp

Cumin Powder - 1 tsp

Tomato - 2 (200 g)

Ginger - 1 inch

Green Chilli - 2

Dry Fenugreek leaves - 1 tbsp

Kashmiri Red Chilli - 1 tsp

Tea leaves - 1 tsp

Salt - 1 tsp

Baking Soda - ¼ tsp

Garam Masala - ½ tsp

Ghee - 1 tbsp

Cumin seeds - ½ tsp

Kashmiri Red Chilli - ½ tsp

Coriander leaves - 1-2 tbsp

 

Process of making Chole Masala

 

Heat 2 tbsp of oil and 1 tbsp of ghee in a cooker.  When it heats up, reduce the flame to low and add 2 bay leaves, 1 inch cinnamon, 10-12 black peppers, 1 big cardamom (peel it and take the seeds), 4 cloves and one star anise.  Then add 1 tsp of pomegranate, 2 tsp of coriander powder and 1 tsp of cumin powder and fry it.

 

Now add 2 tomatoes, 1 inch of ginger and 2 green chili paste and fry them by increasing the flame.  Remember, you have to keep stirring them every once in a while.  After lightly roasting the spices, add 1 tbsp of dry fenugreek (crush and put it in) and 1 tsp of kashmiri red chilli and fry the spices well till it leaves the oil.

 

Till the masala gets roasted, put ½ cup of water and 1 tsp of tea leaves in a pan and boil it.  When it starts boiling, turn off the flame and keep it.  Now after the oil separates from the spices, add 1 cup (200 grams) of chickpeas (washed and soaked overnight and drain all the water) and fry it a little.

 

After frying lightly, add 1.5 cups of water, ½ cup of tea leaf water, 1 tsp of salt, ½ tsp of garam masala and ¼ tsp of baking soda, close the cooker and cook on high flame till one whistle.  After a whistle, reduce the flame to low and cook for 8 minutes.  After the time is up, turn off the flame and cool the cooker.  Now put 1-2 tbsp of green coriander in it and stir it, then mash them lightly and take them out in a bowl.  Chole masala will be ready.

 

Process of making tadka

 

Put 1 tbsp of ghee in a tadka pan and heat it.  Put ½ tsp of cumin seeds and 2 green chilies chopped  in 4 parts and fry them in hot ghee.  After roasting, turn off the flame and add ½ tsp of kashmiri red chili and mix it and put it in the chole masala, the tadka chole masala will be ready.

 

Suggestions

 

Be sure to soak the gram overnight or for 6-7 hours.

After the vegetable is cooked, press the gram and see that they should be mashed well.

If there is a tea bag, instead of boiling the water of the tea leaves, put the tea bag in the cooker while cooking the chickpeas.
