Kala Chana Chole – Black Chickpeas Chole Recipe
We usually make Chole from Kabuli Chana, but Chole made from Black Chickpeas has a unique taste. Black Chickpeas Chole is high in protein and carbohydrates, and also contains a lot of fiber. Chana Aloo's dry curry is also very nice, today we will prepare Black Chickpeas Chole.

- Ingredients for Kala Chana - Black Chickpeas Chole Recipe
- Black Chickpeas - 150 grams(3/4 cup)
- Baking soda - 1/3 tsp
- Tomatoes - 3(medium sized)
- Green chilly - 2 to 3
- Ginger - 1 to 2 inch long piece
- Oil- 2 tbsp
- Heeng(asafoetida) - 1 to 2 pinch
- Jeera(cumin seeds) - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1 1/2 tsp
- Red chilly powder - less than 1/4 tsp
- Salt - 1 tsp
- Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
- Green coriander - 1 tbsp
- How to make Black Chickpeas Chole
Clean the peas, wash and soak them in water for the entire night.
Remove water from the peas, put them in the cooker. Put 300 grams (1 2/2) water, baking soda, and salt then put the cooker to boil. After 1 whistle goes of boil for another 5-6 minutes on a low flame. Turn off the gas, peas are boiled. Lets prepare the spices till pressure escapes from the cooker.
Make a paste of tomatoes, green chilly's and ginger.
Pour oil in a pat and heat, put Heeng and Jeera in hot oil. Once Jeera is fried put turmeric powder and coriander powder, stir 2-3 times with a spoon. Now add the tomato paste to these fried spices, fry all of these spices till oil floats over them.
Open the cooker, add water according to how thick or thin you want the curry. Put the spices as well followed by red chilly powder and Garam masala. Adjust the amount of salt, put half green coriander. Black Chickpeas Vhole is ready.
Take out Black Chickpeas Chole in a bowl and garnish with green coriander. Serve hot Chole with chapati, parantha, naan or rice and eat.
