Steamed Cake in Idli Shape
Easy to make and Instant Steamed cake in shape of idli. Kids will relish it.
Ingredients of steamed cake in idli :
- Semolina - 1 cup (180 gms )
- Sugar - 1/2 cup (100 gms)
- Ghee - 2 tbsp (30 gms )
- Full cream milk - 1 cup
- Baking powder - 3/4 tsp
- Green Cardamoms - 5 to 6
How to make sweet idli
Take 1 cup semolina in a mixing bowl,Add 1 cup milk to it.Stir well till it blends, Add 2 tbsp ghee, 1/2 cup sugar, mix well. Keep the batter aside for 15 to 20 minutes.
Take 6 small cardamoms, coarsely grind and make powder from it.
After 20 minutes, stir the batter well. Add cardamom powder to the batter, 3/4 tsp baking powder and mix well.
Take any vessel , big enough for idli stand.Place vessel ,turn on flame. Pour 2 cup water in it.Cover it. Let the water boil.
Grease the idli moulds,Pour batter in small quantity in the stand.Arrange it diagonally.
Meanwhile check if the water is boiling.Place the idli stand in the vessel. Keep the flame high.
After 12 minutes, idli is ready. Poke the idli with knife and check. Let the idli cool off.
Rotate the knife and take out the idli.
Mouth drooling Idli cake is ready. It is a favorite among kids.You can pack it in kids lunch box. You can eat it with less spicy, coconut or peanut chutney.
Make sure you all ingredients in measured quantity.
The batter should not be thick or runny.
You can adjust the quantity of ghee and sugar as desired.
As the water boils cover and cook on high flame.
You can add raisins, pistachios etc if desired.
