Alsi ka Meetha Paratha - Flax-seed Sweet Paratha Recipe

Flax seed are full of many nutritional value and can be used to prepare chutney, pinni, roti, cheela and so on. In fact sweet flax seed parantha also taste delicious. This can be packed in tiffin for kids.

Ingredients for Flax-seed Sweet Paratha

  • Wheat flour – 1 cup (150 grams)
  • Salt – ¼ tsp or to taste
  • Ghee – 1 tsp
  • Flax seeds powder – ¼ cup (30 grams)
  • Sugar – ¼ cup (50 grams)
  • Ghee – 2 tsp

How to make Alsi ka Meetha Paratha

In  a big bowl place wheat flour and add ¼ tsp salt and 1 tsp ghee into it. Mix well and now add water in small portions to knead soft dough. Cover the dough and keep aside for 20 minutes to set.

Prepare Stuffing:

Take flax seed powder, sugar and mix them well. Add 2 tsp ghee to this mixture and stir to mix. Stuffing is now ready. 

Place the tawa on flame to heat it sufficiently. Grease your hands with some oil and knead the dough again. Pinch small to medium size dough and roll into a round shape. Dust the dough ball in some dry flour and place it on rolling plate. Roll out the dough ball to about 3 to 4 inch diameter rounds. Place 2 tsp stuffing over the rolled parantha and lift the sides to close seal the stuffing. Flatten the stuffed dough ball with your palms first and then dust it again with some dry flour. Now roll it out to about 5 to 6 inch diameter paranthas. Spread some ghee over the tawa and place the rolled parantha over it.

When the parantha gets dark on the surface, flip the side and let tit roast until you see little brown spots on the other side. Apply 1 tsp ghee on the surface and spread it evenly. Flip the parantha and spread some ghee on this side as well. Keep the flam medium and roast the parantha until it gets brown spots and little crispy on both the sides. Stack the parantha over a bowl kept above a plate.

Likewise prepare all the paranthas. With this much dough 5 to 6 paranthas can be prepared. Paranthas are ready. Serve these yummy sweet flax seeds paranthas with sweet-tangy pickle or jam and pack them for kids in lunch. They will surely love these healthy and yummy paranthas.
