During a single day, you see a hard working construction worker near your home wearing a saree and you also see a celestial diamond studded celebrity wearing a saree, of course, on T.V. That is to say that saree is so multipurpose and popular that nothing can give it competition, not jeans, and no, definitely not skirts.
Saree is a formal and an informal dress. Whenever there is a typical starry Bollywood award giving ceremony, you see your favorite heroines in a saree. Rani Mukherjee, Aishwarya Rai, Preity Zinta and our old and evergreen Rekha show off their designer sarees with style at such ceremonies.
After all, what can be better than a chic blouse and a subtly decorative saree? A saree can give you a modern or a traditional look. The only thing you need to do is to to know how to use it intelligently.
The power women of our country also sport a saree. To name a few, you have got the face of the nation, Sonia Gandhi, followed by Jayalalitha, Shiela Dixit, Mamta Banerjee, Vasundhara Raje etc. Sophistication and tradition is what they are looking for, and they get it exactly right in a saree. Imagining them in a salwar kurta, or worse, in jeans, will get you a pretty sour picture.
A saree does more than image building. It is not only comfortable, but also makes you look stylish. You might think that a jeans and a T-shirt is more comfortable, but a thick jeans cloth hugging your entire legs cannot be more comfortable than a saree which leaves your skin free to breathe.
For formal occasions, a saree is your best bet. No matter how decorative or how expensive your new salwar kameez is, but it will not match the elegance of a saree.
Nowadays, there are so many kinds of saree works and textures available in the market that you won’t have a problem in getting just the right saree for an ocassion, be it your wedding, engagement, a party, an informal get-together or a festival.
For office goers, a saree is just the Right dress. It looks formal, is comfortable and goes well with mature age. Sober colors such as browns and grays are the favorite colors of working women. A woman clad in a saree reinforces her authority and dignity, as she is unlikely to do in jeans and top.
You voted for it. Saree is our national dress. And it deserves the tag too. This unique attire of India gets our hearts pumping with delight and also gets our purses loose. You won’t mind spending a few extra hundreds to get a piece, which you feel is made just for you.
