Ingredients for Khoya Burfi Recipe in Microwave
- Mawa – 250 grams (1 cup)
- Powdered sugar – 125 grams (½ cup)
- Pistachios – 8-10
- Green cardamom – ½ tsp
How to make Mawa barfi recipe in microwave
Take mawa in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1 minutes. After 1 minute, take out the bowl, stir the mawa a little with a spoon.
Now again microwave the mawa for another minutes. Take the bowl out again, stir the mawa and microwave for 1 more minute.
Take out the mawa again. Ghee has started releasing from the mawa and their is slight change in the color. Mawa is roasted now. It takes almost 3 minutes to roast the mawa. Stir the mawa again and let it cool down completely. Meanwhile, thinly chop the pistachios.
When the mawa cools down, add sugar to it and mix well. Grease a tray or plate with 1/2 tsp ghee.
Transfer the sugar mixed mawa over this greased plate and press it down with a spatula and let the barfi set with 1/2 inch thickness. Sprinkle the chopped pistachios over barfi and keep aside to set for an hour.
Once the barfi is set, cut it into desired chunks. To separate out the chunks from plate, reheat it over flame a little and then take out the chunks very gently.

- You can let the mawa cool down a little in refrigerator
- You can adjust the quantity of sugar as per your taste.
- When making this barfi over flame we need to stir it constantly, similarly stir and check the mawa after every minute. Stir and continue roasting until there is change in color and ghee starts separating from it.
