Ingredients for Chana Dal Kebabs
- Chana dal - ½ cup
- Bread crumbs – 1 cup
- Potato – 1 (boiled)
- Green coriander – 2 to 3 tbsp
- Garam masala - ¼ tsp
- Salt – 1/3 tsp or to taase
- Red chilly powder – less than ¼ tsp
- Green chillky – 1
- Ginger batin – 1 inch (grated)
- Oil – to shallow fry cutlets
How to make Chana Dal Cutlets
Start with making chana dal paste and bread crumbs for making the cutlets. To make paste of chana dal, rinse it well with water and soak it for 6 to 7 hours. Remove the extra water from dal and place it into mixer jar and ground coarsely.
Place the bread slices in mixer jar and grind it finely as well. Bread crumbs are now ready.
After doing all the preparation, peel the potatoes and mash them finely in a bowl. Mix ground dal to it, followed by salt, red chilly powder, garam masala, green chilly, ginger and bread crumbs. Mix everything really well and prepare mixture for the cutlets.
Heat some oil in a wok or pan over flame. Make small lump (equal to the size of lemon) and roll into round shape. Press it gently from center and sides giving an oval shape. Similarly prepare rest of the cutlets as well.
Fry the cutlets
Place 2 to 3 or as many cutlets as possible to the wok when the oil is rightly hot. When the cutlets turn brown from beneath, flip the sides and continue frying until they get golden brown in color from all sides.
Drain out the fried cutlets over absorbent paper and likewise fry rest of the cutlets as well.
Crispy and toothsome chana dal cutlets are ready. Serve them steaming hot with green coriander chutney, tomato sauce or any other dip as per your taste and relish eating.
- You can grate the potatoes as well.
- You can give these cutlets any shape as desired like round, oval or square.
