Southern India's special rasam powder is usually used for making rasam. It is very easily available in market but you can adjust the quantity of spices as per your taste or use more spices which are easily in kitchen. Rasam powder can also be used in any sabzi or dal to enhance the taste.

Ingredients for Rasam Powder Recipe
- Whole coriander - 1/2 cup
- Curry leaves - 25 to 30
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Asafoetida - 2 to 3 pinch
- Methi seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Black pepper - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
- Black/Yellow mustard seeds - 1 tsp
- Dry red chilly - 5 to 6
How to Make Rasam Powder
Start with roasting the spices. For this, heat a pan and to it add whole coriander seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and mustard seeds. Stir the spices and roast on low flame until they get little golden brown in color.
Then add black pepper and dry red chilies to the pan and roast for a while. Roast these spices for 5 minutes. Transfer the spices on a plate and let them cool down.
After this, place curry leaves in the pan and roast until they get crispy. Turn off the flame and add turmeric powder and asafoetida to the pan. Mix all these spices to the roasted spices and mix well. Let them cool down.
When the spices cool down, place them in a mixer jar and grind little coarsely. Transfer the powder to a plate. Rasam powder is ready.
Use this spicy rasam powder for making rasam, sabzi or dal to enhance the taste and flavors.
