Steamed bun recipe - Steamed Masala Bun Recipe

Ingredients for Steamed Masala Bun Recipe
- Wheat flour – 2 cups
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Sugar – 1 tsp
- Instant active dry yeast – 1 tsp
- Salt - ½ tsp
- Paneer – 100 grams
- Carrot – 1 (finely chopped)
- Capsicum – 1 (finely chopped)
- Green peas - ½ cup
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Ginger paste - ½ tsp
- Coriander powder – 1 tsp
- Dry mango powder - ¼ tsp
- Salt - ½ tsp or to taste
- Garam masala - ¼ tsp
- Red chilly powder - ¼ tsp
- Green chilly – 1 (finely chopped)
How to make Steamed bun
Take wheat flour in a big mixing bowl and to it add sugar, yeast and half the amount of oil. Mix everything really well. Now will help o lukewarm knead soft dough same as required for making chapatti. Now grease your hands with some oil and knead until it gets smooth. Apply some oil over the dough, cover and keep it at a warm place. Within 2 hours dough will double than its actual size.
Heat some oil in a pan and to it add carrots, peas, capsicum, ginger paste, green chili, salt and coriander powder. Mix everything really well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes until they get tender. Meanwhile finely crumble the paneer.
Now check the veggies. The veggies have turned tender, to it add crumbled paneer, red chilly powder, garam masala powder and mango powder. Mix everything really well and saute for 1 minutes while stirring constantly. Stuffing is now done and ready, mix some green coriander and transfer it into a bowl.
Make dough balls
Grease your hands with some oil and knead the dough again. Now make 12 dough balls from the dough.
Stuff the dough balls
Take one dough ball and flatten it a little with your thumb and finger into 2 to 3 inch diameter sheet. Now place 2 tsp stuffing over it. Lift the dough from all sides and close the stuffing giving it a shape of bun. Similarly prepare rest of the buns as well.
Steam the buns
Take 3 to 4 water in a big vessel and place it on flame to it. When the water simmers, take a sieve and grease it with some oil. Place this sieve over the vessel and place the prepared buns over it at some distance. Cover and let them steam for 15 to 20 minutes.
Check the buns. Buns are ready, take them of over a plate. Similarly steam rest of the buns as well.
Flavorful Steamed masala buns are ready. Serve them with green coriander chutney, chili sauce, tomato sauce or sweet chutney and relish eating.
- If you are using instant dry active yeast instead of dry yeast then activate it first. For this, take 2 to 3 tbsp lukewarm water in a bowl and mix yeast and some sugar to it. Keep aside for 10 minutes to activate and then mix to the dough.
- You can also use cauliflower, cabbage, boiled soya granules, cheese and so on for making the stuffing.
