Ingredients for Gajar ka Halwa
- Carrot - 1 k.g
- Milk - 1 cup (optional)
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Mawa - 250 grams (1 cup)
- Sugar - 250 grams (1 1/4 cup)
- Raisins - 20 (remove stalk and then use)
- Cashews - 30 to 35 (chopped in 3 to 4 chunks)
- Green cardamom - 4 to 5 (peel and grind coarsely)
Microwave Gajar Halwa Recipe
For making carrot halwa, it better to glass and plastic microwave safe vessels.
Roast the mawa
Place mawa in another microwave safe bowl and microwave for 1.5 minute. Take out the vessel and stir the mawa. Place it back in microwave and cook for another 1 minute. Take it out again, mawa is now roasted well.
Peel the carrots, remove stalk and wash them thoroughly. Grate the carrots now.
Place grated carrot, milk and ghee in microwave safe bowl for cooking. Cover the bowl with lid and set the microwave on highest temperature for 5 minutes. Take out the bowl and stir the carrots really well.
Now keep back the bowl in microwave without lid and cook for 5 more minutes. Take it out again and stir the carrots really well.
Add sugar, mawa, cashews and raisins in carrots, mix them well and place the bowl in microwave. Cook for 5 minutes. If you feel that halwa is too thin, then keep it inside the microwave for 2 to 3 more minutes. Take out the bowl. Mix all the ingredients really well. Carrot halwa is now ready. Add crashed cardamom in the halwa and mix well. Garnish with some chopped cashews.
Serve steaming hot and relish eating.
