How to make Shimla Mirch Aloo Recipe

Wash capsicum really well, remove stalk and seeds. Cut it into small chunks. Peel potatoes and make eight chunks of each potato. (Instead of cutting potatoes in small and thin chunks, keep the size big. These taste more delicious. )

Preheat some oil in a wok. When oil is hot add asafoetida and cumin seeds into it. After sauteing cumin seeds, add turmeric powder, green chilly, coriander powder and red chilly powder. Stir the masala with a spoon and add chopped capsicum and salt into it. Keep stirring for 2 to 3 minutes and cook.

Now cover the sabzi and cook on low flame for 7 to 8 minutes (sabzi cooked on low flame taste good). Open the lid and stir the sabzi nicely. Press the potatoes to check. If the potatoes are uncooked and there is need to add some water then add 1 tbsp water in the sabzi. Cover the sabzi and cook for 4 to 5 more minutes. Check the sabzi again. Capsicum potato sabzi is now ready. Add mango powder, garam masala and green coriander in the sabzi.

Take out sabzi in a bowl and serve with parantha, naan or chapatti and relish eating.
