Method - How to make Batata Vada

Boil the potatoes in the cooker.

Take gram flour in a bowl and add water to it along with coriander leaves, green chilli (half the quantity of the quantity mentioned in the list of ingredients) and salt (according to the taste). Mix the ingredients well and whisk the batter to make it smooth. Leave the batter for 15 minutes to set.

Cool the boiled potatoes and peel them. Mash them with hands and mix grated carrot into it. Now put coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, amchoor powder, salt, green chilli and coriander leaves into the mixture and mix them well. Divide this mixture into 10 equal parts and make round balls.

Heat oil in a pan to fry. Take one potato ball, dip it into the gram flour batter and put it inside the pan to fry. Fry 3-4 at one time until they turn brown in colour. Spread a napkin on a plate and take out the batata vada on it. The napkin soaks all the excess oil in the batata vada.

Your Batata Vada is ready. Serve them with green chutney, tomato ketchup or imli chutney.
