Kakora Recipe

Curry prepared from Kakore is very tasty, Kakore is available in the market from the month of October.  There are 2 types of Kakore available in the market, big ones and small ones.

Both the types of Kakore are prepared in the same manner, but small sized Kakore tastes much better. So lets prepare a curry with small sized Kakore.

Ingredients for Kakora Recipe

  • Kakore - 250 grams
  • Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Heeng(asafoetida) - 1 pinch
  • Jeera - 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - less than 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander(dhaniya) powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp (add to taste)
  • Red chilli powder - 1/6 tsp
  • Amchur(mango) powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala - 1/6 tsp

- How to make Kakora Recipe

Kakora is used for vegetarian recipiesWash Kakore properly with clean water, cut it into 4 halves.

Pour oil in a pan(kadhai) and heat. Fry Heeng and Jeera in hot oil. After Jeera is fried put turmeric powder, coriander powder followed by pieces of Kakore, salt, red chilli powder and Amchur powder. Mix all of these ingredients properly then fry. While frying Kakore keep the gas on a high flame and stir from time to time. Kakore will be cooked in 6-8 minutes, put Garam masala in the curry and fry for another 1-2 minutes.

Kakore curry is ready. Take out Kakore in a bowl, and serve with hot paranthas or chapati and eat.

Serves- 4

Cooking time - 15 minutes
