Ingredients for  Moong Dal Laddoo

  • Moong dal (split and husked) - 1 cup (200 grams)
  • Boora – 1.5 cup (250 grams)
  • Ghee – 1 cup (200 grams)
  • Almonds – ¼ cup (50 grams)
  • Cashews – ¼ cup
  • Green cardamom – 8 to 10
  • Pistachios – 8 to 10

How to make Mung Dal Ladoo

Wash the lentil and soak it in water for 3 to 4 hours. Wash the lentil again and drain out the water. Now ground the dal.

Ground the almonds as well in a mixture grinder to make powder. Cut cashews in small chunks and pistachios in thin and long chunks. Peel cardamom and make powder.

Take some ghee in a wok and heat it slightly (keep some for later use) and place the ground dal to it. Stir constantly and roast the dal on low-medium flame. When the dal is roasted well, there is slight change in the color, ghee starts separating from it and the mixture releases good aroma.

Dal is roasted well (it takes around 25 minutes to roast the dal). Turn off the flame now and take it out in a bowl. Allow the mixture to cool.

When the dal cools a bit, add almond powder, chopped cashews, cardamom powder and boora. Mix all the ingredients really well. The mixture for making ladoo is ready. Take small amount of mixture in your hands and bind to make a ladoo. Place these ladoos on a plate. Garnish with chopped pistachios.

Store these ladoos in an air tight container and relish eating for up to 20 to 25 days. Whenever you feel like eating ladoos, take them out from the container and enjoy eating.

  • For 15 to 16 ladoos
  • Time – 70 minutes
